The project aimed to reconceive the 1000-square-foot apartment that had been used as rental apartment, for our client’s personal use. The use of a neutral palette has created a calm, timeless canvass that won’t go out of date. Mango wood and Gray tone dominates the entire Kitchen, Living and Master Bedroom whereas Canadian Pinewood and pops of pink, yellow and blue keeps the Kids Room bright and lively.

The existing concrete slab in the kitchen was knocked down. After re-planning the layout, the kitchen counter is now finished in Mango wood, topped with white Quartz.  While the store room, previously accessed from the living room has been sealed off creating a wall space for a TV unit. A full height cabinet has been added in the living space which now provides ample storage. The store room now serves as a walk in closet for the Master Bed and has open wardrobes in metal and Mango wood.  The Master Bed also features a 12’ high study corner with an overhead storage space.

As for the client’s 3 children, who range from 2 to 5 years old, their sanctums are at once age-appropriate and functional, featuring colors and finishes suited especially for them. A bedroom (10’ x 13’) and a TV room (10’ x 11’) have been converted into Kid’s Room. The height of both rooms, given12’ on one side and 9’ on the other, allowed creating layers of fun. By incorporating a play bunk into both rooms, the play space is significantly increased and the Pinewood steps with storage/shelving unit underneath gives access to a hangout area and cozy sleeping nook above. Additionally, the suspended hammock floors are icing on the top, vertically dividing the space in two without reducing volume, allowing natural light to pass through and keeping the whole space interactive.
